The Real Deal, Happy 1st Birthday Knox

Hmmm, interesting.

Yep, very interesting.

It's good, I like it!

June 30th is Knox's actual birthday so we got him another cake and had a mini celebration.  He really got into the cake and the bath water afterwards was full of floating icing chunks!

Happy Birthday Buddy!!

Knox in his new wagon, thanks dad and Tracie!

Wow!

Ohhh!

Sunday, the 27th we held Knox's birthday party.  The party was at Noccalula Falls in Gadsden.  We had a lot of fun.  Tons of family and friends, lots of presents, lots of food and lots of sweating!! I really appreciate everyone coming to share this special time with us.  We can't believe he is already one.  It seems like yesterday that I was banging my head on the wall with contractions and Matt saying, "Ok we can go to the hospital but we better come home with a kid in the carseat this time." Yes, I was the girl who had to go to the hospital three times before I was actually "ready" to have him.

A few things Knox does at 1 year old:
  • Walks (a little wobbly but he gets there)
  • Drinks from a cup...finally
  • Loves to play with keys
  • Loves to flip books...and flip and flip and flip
  • Loves Mickey Mouse Club and gets confused when he hears the theme song/hot dog song in the car (I have it on my IPod)
  • Wants to drink from a cup so badly, but doesn't understand the concept (turns the cup all the way up and gets choked everytime...does this in the bathtub)
  • Holds his hand straight out to the side if he wants something
  • Likes vegetables and fruits and lemonade
  • Loves balls
  • Likes to play with a diaper when he is getting his diaper changed (the only way I can keep his hands away from down there)
  • Has an issue with throwing his cup in the floor when he is in his highchair (gets in trouble a lot)
  • Throws things back behind him if he isn't interested
  • Loves the "It's Raining Men" Frog at mom's house (don't ask)
  • Loves to play with cups (things that go inside things)
We love you Knox!

I Slobber Orange

You make think of Auburn when you see "I Slobber Orange", but when you are talking about my dad's family, "I Slobber Orange" refers to Allis Chalmers.  Allis Chalmers is the preferred family tractor and coming from a family of farmers...the tractor is important.  Dad bought Knox this onesie from the local tractor store and they had an Orange inspired photo shoot. I hope he enjoys riding on the tractor soon!

Two Steps Forward, Fifteen Steps Upward

There are no pictures of this event yet, but...you know the drill; I wanted to document the day.

Today, Knox took two steps!!  I was at the grocery store and Matt was keeping Knox at home when he took two steps and then plopped down on his fanny.  He has been standing on his own for a few weeks and squatting up and down for a week or two.  He stayed with Matt's parents last night and they have a push toy (we also have one but up until now he hasn't gotten the concept), by the time he came home this afternoon, Matt said he was practically running behind it.  So, now he practically runs behind ours, in a straight line of course.  I guess learning to run behind the push toy prompted him to try a little on his own.
Today, Knox also climbed all the way up the 15 stairs to our extra room. For months he has been going up 2 or 3 steps and then working his way back down, but today he turned the corner, mastered the first step and didn't let up till he reached the top. We need to baby proof!

Knox's First Swim

Knox experienced his first swim in the pool on Memorial Day!  He loved it. I hoped he would like the pool since he loves to take a bath and he did.  It was still pretty chilly but he didn't complain about the cold at all.  He enjoyed splashing when he figured out that he could and he liked being pushed around in his float.  It was bright too, I must get him some shades.  He sure was tired afterwards but I am so glad he enjoyed it! That means lots of fun this summer!!

Home Alone with Dad

Ummm

I love this stuff!

"Uh-oh, mom's gonna be mad."

"Dad, what have you done to me?"

Tonight I had to attend my first clinical at St. Vincent's.  This semester I have clinicals in the evenings from 3-11pm.  So, this leaves Matt and Knox at home...alone.  Matt fixed spaghetti for supper and obviously allowed Knox to feed himself.  I am still wondering if actually ate any of the spaghetti. It does look like he had fun...that's all that matters, right?
